Abstract

This paper aims to emphasize the importance of discussing the pedagogical function of Probation and Community Services measures. The objectives of this paper are to understand the history of the Brazilian Child and Adolescent Statute (in Portuguese, E.C.A.) and the socioeducational measures and knowing what are the Probation and the Community Services measures and their pedagogical role. The research methodology was a bibliographical review. The findings point that it is extremely important for professionals involved with conducting socioeducational measures to be aware of their pedagogical function. This is essential to achieve the real educational effect of the Probation and Community Services as is the support and engagement of the professionals, of the family and the community during the time served through those measures by the adolescent.
