Prótese total é um aparelho que tem como função a reconstituição das
funções mastigatória, postural, fonética e estética em pacientes
desdentados. A estética em prótese total envolve diversos fatores que
unidos proporcionam uma harmonia com o restante da face, sendo
indicada para pacientes que tiveram os dentes naturais condenados à
extração. O profissional deve selecionar o melhor tipo de dente para cada
caso individualmente e sempre consultar a opinião do paciente. Após a
instalação da prótese, o restabelecimento das funções deve ser no mínimo
satisfatório, para poder suprir a expectativa do paciente e até mesmo a dos
profissionais envolvidos na confecção, atingindo assim os objetivos do
tratamento protético.
