MELALEUCA ALTERNIFOLIA: UMA REVISÃO SISTEMÁTICA DA LITERATURA BRASILEIRA

A Melaleuca alternifolia é um arbusto originário da Austrália, pertencente à classe das angiospermas eudicotiledôneas. Nos últimos anos, sua composição química e suas atividades biológicas têm sido objeto de intensa análise científica. Assim, este artigo buscou investigar como se conformam, no Brasil, os estudos sobre Melaleuca alternifolia e seu emprego nas áreas de pesquisa. Para tanto, foi realizada uma revisão da literatura brasileira, com busca sistemática em três bases de dados eletrônicas, sendo elas: Scielo, web of Science e Google Scholar. Foram considerados vinte anos de produção, no período de 1999 a 2019. Foram selecionados e analisados 152 trabalhos científicos para compor a revisão. Verificou-se que a Melaleuca alternifolia se constitui uma importante planta medicinal em estudos brasileiros, envolvendo diversos eixos temáticos, como: agricultura, aquicultura e Saúde Pública, por exemplo. A revisão sistemática também demonstrou que ela, além de ser conhecida na medicina popular, foi cientificamente testada e expressou atividade larvicida, repelente, aromática, inseticida, antimicrobiana, biocida e antifúngica.
