MANIFESTAÇÕES ORAIS DA DOENÇA DO REFLUXO GASTROESOFÁGICO EM CRIANÇAS

O refluxo gastroesofágico (RGE) é o fluxo repetido, involuntário e retrógrado do conteúdo gástrico para o esôfago, constituído por gás ou fluido. É uma ocorrência normal em bebês, mas pode resultar em complicações graves – Doença do Refluxo Gastroesofágico (DRGE), e causar problemas orais. O objetivo deste artigo foi revisar a literatura existente sobre as manifestações orais da DRGE em crianças. A pesquisa de literatura foi conduzida até junho de 2016 na base de dados Pubmed usando as seguintes combinações de palavras-chaves: "refluxo gastroesofágico" e "manifestação oral em crianças", "doença do refluxo", "doença gastroesofágica" e "lesão oral". Quinze artigos foram selecionados de acordo com os critérios de inclusão. Embora o desgaste erosivo tenha sido o principal achado oral, há poucos estudos consolidados no que diz respeito à cárie dentária, mesmo considerando uma realidade clínica. O cirurgião-dentista exerce um papel importante devido a possibilidade de identificar a DRGE pelas manifestações orais e encaminhar o paciente ao médico. Portanto, uma interação multiprofissional deve ser estabelecida a fim de prevenir os sinais e sintomas da doença em pacientes infantis.
