Hidratação do tegumento cutâneo

A pele é o maior órgão do corpo humano, possuindo funções
específicas e inespecíficas que contribuem para a manutenção da
homeostasia do nosso organismo. A pele é composta pela epiderme,
derme e hipoderme. A epiderme é composta por cinco camadas. A
camada córnea é a principal responsável por manter a hidratação em todos
os níveis da pele. A desidratação é o resultado do conteúdo de água no
estado córneo dando origem a uma pele seca ou normal dependendo do
conteúdo hídrico da mesma. A hidratação da pele humana é decorrente do
equilíbrio entre a água fornecida e as perdas por evaporação. Os ativos
utilizados para hidratação inserem componentes hidrofílicos nas camadas
mais externas da pele ou promovem a formação de um filme oclusivo
sobre a camada córnea impedindo desta maneira a evaporação da água. A
indústria farmacêutica e cosmética tem lançado diversos ativos
dermatológicos do tipo emolientes e umectantes a fim de preservar e /ou
restaurar a hidratação do tegumento cutâneo, haja vista que a desidratação
da pele está associada a patologias dermatológicas.
