FARINGOTONSILITES AGUDAS - REVISÃO DE LITERATURA -
Abstract
As infecções das vias aéreas superiores são causas importantes
da procura de serviços médicos na faixa etária pediátrica.
Entre elas estão as faringotonsilites de causas virais
e bacterianas. Os vírus são responsáveis pela maior parte
destas infecções, e dentre as bacterianas, o estreptococo
beta-hemolítico do grupo A de Lancefield é o patógeno mais
prevalente. Como os sinais e sintomas para diferenciar as
duas etiologias são pouco específicos, deve-se utilizar exames
complementares como o teste rápido e/ou cultura da
faringe posterior para a confirmação diagnóstica e instituição
do tratamento adequado.
