A violência contra a criança é um tema pesado e pouco abordado pessoalmente e, mesmo em cursos de graduação em saúde, pouco se fala a respeito, ainda que seja obrigação desses profissionais informar qualquer suspeita de abuso infantil as autoridades competentes. A violência contra a criança não pode ser medida adequadamente pois os pais não mantém registros adequados. Assim, tem-se uma falsa noção de que é um problema menor do que a realidade. A criança vítima de violência começa a apresentar algum tipo de comportamento alterado na escola e em suas atividades cotidianas e o profissional da saúde precisa estar atento a isto. Se o profissional não estiver preparado para enxergar esta realidade, pode não perceber quando estiver frente a frente com alguma criança nesta situação. Assim este projeto pretende avaliar o conhecimento dos alunos de odontologia do UniCesumar a respeito do abuso infantil através de um questionário. Espera-se que isso gere uma reflexão sobre o assunto para que o aluno busque conhecer mais a respeito. Em um segundo momento, pretende-se discutir com todos os alunos que responderem o questionário os aspectos ligados a violência contra a criança para que estejam preparados em caso de um paciente ter sofrido ou esteja sofrendo abuso, e possam, assim, ter uma conduta adequada para cessar ou mitigar seu sofrimento.
