O aparelho Pendulum para distalização de molares superiores: revisão da literatura

A má oclusão de Classe II tem sido largamente estudada e
revisada na literatura, apresentando diversas opções terapêuticas. O
tratamento da Classe II baseou-se durante muito tempo no emprego da
ancoragem extrabucal. O advento de diversos dispositivos intrabucais
para a distalização dos molares proporcionou resultados satisfatórios
requisitando menor colaboração do paciente. Dentre os inúmeros
mecanismos de distalização intrabucais, encontra-se o aparelho
Pendulum. Este trabalho tem como objetivo revisar a literatura sobre o
assunto, descrevendo as características destes aparelhos, as indicações
mais freqüentes e o mecanismo de ação, além dos efeitos dentários e
esqueléticos.
