A microbiota intestinal é composta por uma diversidade de microrganismos e constitui uma importante barreira imunológica, metaboliza nutrientes não digeridos, produzem mediadores químicos e metabólitos que são determinantes para a gliconeogênese, além de apresentar diversas funções. A presença e quantidade de firmicutes e bacterioidetes no intestino influencia a produção de mediadores químicos relacionados a obesidade, sendo possível observar também que a microbiota intestinal de indivíduos obesos difere de indivíduos não obesos. A influência da microbiota intestinal sobre a fisiologia humana tem sido amplamente estudada e aplicada para o tratamento de diversas patologias. A cerca disso, o transplante da microbiota fecal busca restabelecer a disbiose através do repovoamento da microbiota intestinal afim de obter efeitos benéficos ao organismo. O objetivo deste trabalho foi realizar uma revisão bibliográfica sobre transplante fecal e verificar sua possível aplicação no controle da obesidade
