Resumen

Objetivo: Verificar a cobertura do Programa de Suplementação de Vitamina A em crianças de 6 a 59 meses de idade no município de São Luís, Maranhão, entre os anos de 2011 a 2016. Metodologia: Estudo descritivo sobre a distribuição de megadoses de vitamina A. A coleta de dados se deu por consulta na base de dados da Coordenação Geral de Alimentação e Nutrição – CGAN no período de novembro de 2017. Resultados: Em nenhum dos anos analisados foram atingidas as metas propostas. A cobertura oscilou entre 36,5% e 47,1%, baixas coberturas também foram observadas na estratificação por idade, o município teve a menor média (43,7%) de cobertura quando comparado às capitais do Nordeste. Conclusão: A análise permitiu verificar que a cobertura de vitamina A em crianças de 6 a 59 meses de idade no município de São Luís-MA foi considerada insuficiente, não atingindo a meta do programa instituído pelo Ministério da saúde.
