CONSIDERAÇÕES SOBRE O SULCO PALATO-GENGIVAL E SUAS IMPLICAÇÕES NA PRÁTICA ODONTOLÓGICA

Resumo
O sulco palato-gengival é uma anomalia de desenvolvimento, presente predominantemente nos incisivos laterais maxilares, que se inicia na parte da fossa central, passa pelo cíngulo e segue em diversas direções e profundidades sobre a raiz. Seu formato de funil facilita o acúmulo de bactérias difíceis de remover pelo paciente e até mesmo pelo profissional, podendo causar prejuízos como uma periodontite localizada podendo chegar até a um comprometimento pulpar. Atualmente, as opções de terapêuticas dependem da forma e dimensão que o sulco atinge, incluindo raspagem e alisamento das raízes afetadas, sendo necessário para casos mais complexos procedimentos cirúrgicos junto com terapia endodôntica, para casos com o envolvimento pulpar.
