Atendimento odontológico de portadores de deficiências físicas

Este artigo baseia-se em uma revisão de literatura acerca do estágio atual
do atendimento odontológico de pacientes portadores de deficiências
físicas. Diante do recente reconhecimento da Odontologia para Pacientes
com Necessidades Especiais como uma nova especialidade, diversos
conceitos têm sido revistos e adequados com a finalidade de otimizar a
terapêutica nesses pacientes. Algumas iniciativas têm sido tomadas por
parte de empresas que fabricam os equipamentos odontológicos, bem
como pelos próprios profissionais que acabam por adequar algumas
condições de modo a viabilizar o atendimento dos portadores de
deficiências.
