Correlação entre medidas espectroscópicas e eletroquímicas do complexo metálico. cis-Ru(bpy)2(Cl)2

Neste trabalho foi estudado o comportamento do complexo cis-
Ru(bpy)2(Cl)2 como indicador halocrômico em uma série de solventes
apróticos, com técnicas espectroscópicas e eletroquímicas, empregando a
escala de polaridade proposta por Gutmman para avaliar a capacidade do
solvente de ligar-se ao indicador. O complexo cis-Ru(bpy)2(Cl)2 possui
duas bandas de transferência de carga, π*
1(bpy)←dπ(Ru) e
π*
2(bpy)←dπ(Ru), sendo as energias destas sensíveis à variação de
polaridade do meio, apresentando um deslocamento do tipo batocrômico.
A correlação entre a energia da banda de transferência de carga e o
potencial redox Ru(II)/Ru(III) é discutida neste trabalho.
