Abstract

Objetivo: verificar a prevalência de episiotomia em parturientes atendidas em um Centro de Parto Normal. Metodologia: estudo quantitativo, tipo transversal, realizado através dos prontuários de puérperas. A amostra foi composta por 362 pares de mãe e bebês. Realizou-se análise estatística descritiva dos dados, aplicando-se medidas de tendência de variabilidade, além de frequências absolutas e relativas através da utilização do software SPSS versão 21. Os aspectos éticos foram respeitados, a pesquisa ocorreu somente após aprovação do comitê de ética do Complexo de Ensino Superior de Cachoeirinha CAAE 70551317.3.0000.5665. Resultados: Verificou-se uma prevalência de 25,7% de episiotomia, 68,5% utilizaram métodos não farmacológicos de alívio da dor e 96,7% estavam acompanhadas. Conclusão: a prevalência de episiotomia está próxima das recomendações da OMS, no entanto, ressalta-se a necessidade de educação continuada da equipe afim de reduzir intervenções desnecessárias e de contribuir para uma assistência mais qualificada e humanizada.
