Abstract

Sexuality is part of the domains of quality of life and can be influenced by several factors, including sexual violence. Phases of sexual response encompass desire, arousal, orgasm and resolution, and any change in one of these phases may occur with a dysfunction. In Brazil, sexual dysfunction is considered a public health problem due to its high prevalence and negative impact on quality of life. Therefore, the aim of this study was to identify the profile and quality of sexual response in women as well as to evaluate the knowledge about pelvic physiotherapy on the part of the evaluated ones. This is a cross-sectional exploratory research conducted with 46 women with active sexual life and age between 20 and 45 years. Through this study, it can be observed that sexual violence may be a risk factor for sexual dysfunction, but there was no correlation in this study, and it was identified that all women were in the reproductive phase and presented some degree of risk for the development of sexual dysfunction and only 6.8% reported having some knowledge about pelvic physiotherapy
