A colecistite aguda consiste na inflamação da vesícula biliar, uma das principais complicações da colecistopatia calculosa, acometendo até 20% dos paciente sintomáticos portadores desta patologia. A correta avaliação do quadro clínico e adequada interpretação de exames laboratoriais e de imagem são fundamentais para um diagnóstico precoce e tratamento preciso. Uma revisão do Guideline de Tokyo, inicialmente publicado em 2007, posteriormente em 2013 e recentemente reformulado em 2018, nos traz um direcionamento em relação à conduta de acordo com a gravidade do quadro.
