Abstract

O câncer de próstata é o segundo em incidência das neoplasias que acometem o homem, portanto, requer do profissional da saúde, especialmente o enfermeiro, atenção especial para o aconselhamento de medidas preventivas e curativas, objetivando a promoção e a manutenção da saúde. O objetivo deste artigo foi identificar as evidências científicas produzidas disponíveis na literatura sobre a assistência de enfermagem ao homem com câncer de próstata. Trata-se de uma revisão integrativa da literatura científica, cujas bases de dados utilizadas foram: LILACS, SciELO e BIREME. Foram selecionados 12 artigos científicos conforme os critérios de inclusão. Os resultados foram elencados em três categorias temáticas: Assistência de Enfermagem na prevenção do câncer de próstata, Assistência de Enfermagem no diagnóstico do câncer de próstata e Assistência de Enfermagem no tratamento do câncer de próstata. O estudo revelou a importância da atuação do enfermeiro na saúde do homem com câncer de próstata, destacando a implantação de estratégias educativas em saúde voltadas ao cuidado na prevenção, diagnóstico e tratamento. Conclui-se sobre a necessidade de estudos mais aprofundados sobre a assistência de enfermagem ao homem com câncer de próstata, que envolvam aspectos como o social, o familiar, o profissional e o pessoal.
