Abstract

The objective of this work is to demonstrate the improvements in the consumption of electric energy in the industrial process of a sugarcane industry with energy generation by sugarcane biomass. Biomass refers to any plant or animal matter that can be reused for the production of heat or electric energy (TEIXEIRA, 2003). The equipment that most impacted the consumption of electric energy in the process of manufacturing hydrated alcohol was identified. In this context, they identified and evidenced the causes of the impact using a Total Quality Program tool, the Action Plan.  It is about an activity that seeks to solve theoretical and practical problems (CERVO e BERVIAN, 2005), aiming to generate knowledge for practical application to problem solving (SILVA e MENEZES, 2005). With the improvements, it was possible to reduce the power of the motors, install frequency inverters and apply new procedures in the process, obtaining a total gain of R$ 880,638.72 with the projects carried out. And the projects in progress foresee an estimated gain of R$ 271,660.54 and projects that have not yet been carried out and which are not in progress have an estimated gain of R$ 504,196.00, according to the study carried out in the field. And the projects already carried out, in progress and future projects totaled a gain of R$ 1656,495.00. It can be concluded from the results presented that the sugarcane bagasse is a clean and renewable energy source and can be better exploited and better sized in the process, which means savings for the mills.
